The Beard Razor Shave at European Barber is an old-world straight razor ritual for an exceptionally close, smooth finish, performed by Ahmet, a barber with more than 33 years of experience. It costs $35 and takes about 20 minutes, at the shop inside Spectra Apartments in Redmond’s Marymoor Village.
How a straight razor shave works
The skin and beard are prepared first so the hair softens and the blade glides. The shave is done with a fresh blade in careful passes, following the direction the hair grows to reduce irritation. A straight razor gets closer than a cartridge razor and gives sharper, cleaner lines along the cheeks and neck. Ahmet offers several traditional shave styles, including a Turkish-style shave; ask when you book if you have a preference.
